Dr. Joseph Harvey, PsyD, Ed.D, NJCSP

Dr. Joseph Harvey is a New Jersey Certified School Psychologist dedicated to helping children, adolescents, and families achieve their full potential by finding balance between mental health and academic success.

 

Dr. Harvey earned his Doctor of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Psychology from Rutgers University’s Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, building a strong foundation in clinical practice. This is complemented by an Education Specialist (Ed.S.) Degree in Education Leadership, Management, and Policy from Seton Hall University, and an undergraduate degree in Psychology from The University of Southern California.

 

Dr. Harvey specializes in providing evidence-based treatment approaches for children and adolescents to manage a range of concerns, including Disorders of Anxiety and Mood, as well as ADHD and Behavioral Concerns.  His approach also incorporates consultation with parents designed to enable them to best support their child’s treatment.  A core focus of his practice is working with families to navigate the special education system, using his expertise to provide clarity, confidence, and advocacy through the process. He is committed to tailoring interventions that foster resilience, emotional regulation, and academic progress for every child.

 

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Harvey currently serves as the Director of Special Services for a public school district. In this key role, he actively works with families, teachers, and staff to navigate the special education system in New Jersey, ensuring students receive the necessary access and support to make meaningful progress. This experience gives him insight into the intersection of psychological health and academic achievement.
